30 Years

2011 was the year Centra Forklifts celebrated 30 years of an exclusive partnership with Mitsubishi in New Zealand – and everyone involved with Centra and Mitsubishi Forklifts in New Zealand was invited to share in the celebrations. Hence, Centra’s “Tell Us Your Story” competition gave Mitsubishi Forklift Truck owners and operators the opportunity to share stories about how Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks have added value to their businesses (or outlasted the operators!).

The competition generated much interest and discussion from our loyal customer base.  Thus, many great anecdotal stories were traded about the durability of the Mitsubishi forklift brand in the NZ market. The entries we received provided enchanting examples of the product’s longevity and customers’ devotion to the brand. Centra Forklifts identified several forklifts from 1981. Also, it was the first year of importing fully-manufactured Mitsubishi’s. Hence, it is a great testimony to the value of the brand.

National Winner
Wai Shing Ltd – Entry Number 0007
Our voting panel couldn’t go past Wai Shing for unwavering commitment to the Mitsubishi brand.  In one case 29,000 hours of operation, Wai Shing get a reward with unrivalled cost of ownership in a period of 27 years. The Wai Shing team indicated that they had continued with the product confidence that their father had because of its reliability – despite high hours of operation and a hard environment.

People’s Choice Winner
Gro-Chem – Entry Number 0009
Gro-Chem was a clear winner in the People’s Choice voting segment, with a range of loyal followers supporting their cause.  And what a deserving winner!  Gro-Chem has demonstrated loyalty to the Mitsubishi brand throughout its proud history.  And as Marcus Albrecht at Gro-Chem says:  “For quality, reliable machines, we wouldn’t consider anything else…where we strive to be the best, only the best in support and equipment will do.”

Regional Winner
Pinepac Group – Entry Number 0004
Pinepac describes their fleet of Mitsubishi forklifts as the “sumo wrestlers of the forklift worked.”  They have operated several units of Mitsubishi’s since 1983 and “they live on a diet of hard work that requires strength and stability.  Also, mud rain, sun and dust are no barriers to performance.”  So, we are proud to receive this endorsement from the Pinepac team to reinforce what we know already!

Regional Winner
Cambridge Kiln & Timber Treatment Ltd – Entry Number 0003
The team at Cambridge Kiln & Timber Treatment were early adopters! Also, they purchased their first Mitsubishi in 1981.  The technology and operator comfort really impressed them. Also, they were rewarded with 28 years of service from that first forklift, and they continue to operate five Mitsubishi’s in their fleet – including an FD60 from 1982!

Regional Winner
Gisborne Towing – Entry Number 0002

Terry Hunt at Gisborne Towing has been renting a 1985 Mitsubishi FD40 for many years.  Therefore, Terry recognizes its value – “What a honey.  Perfect for us, reliable and strong.”  His rental units “have proved their reliability in working in a tough environment.”  Also, Terry asks “how many machines could take the rubbish we dish out?”  And we know the answer!

Regional Winner
Mitsubishi Motors (Porirua) – Entry Number 0010
As, Graham Jones and his team at Mitsubishi Motors are very loyal to the Mitsubishi brand.  And why not?  But they are still operating with an FG30 from 1981!  Graham compares the forklift to himself – “used and abused, but still going strong…it just keeps going and going and going...”
